Creative Research is a term used to describe falsified or exaggerated statistics. If caught by a judge, it can be grounds for Silent Disqualification, and is generally frowned upon by the debating community. Nonetheless, it remains a popular tactic for many teams as it's often quite hard to prove as an opposing debater, and even less often taken into consideration by the Judges.
